Why We Built It
Because the Timer Alone
Was Never Enough
The Pomodoro Technique is old, simple, and genuinely effective: work in a focused interval, take a short break, repeat. It also assumes something that stopped being true a long time ago — that when the interval starts, the only thing in front of you is the work. Nobody's browser has worked that way in years.
So a timer on its own tends to lose. It counts down honestly while the second tab does whatever it likes, and the session is gone before the bell. The blockers solve that half, but they solve it in isolation: a hard block with no rhythm becomes something you switch off, and neither tool has anything to say about the fact that you have not stood up or looked away from the screen since morning.
DeepCycle puts all of it in the same place. The cycle defines the shape of the session, the blocker defends it, strict mode keeps the defence honest, and the wellness prompts — eye rest, movement, water — handle the recovery half that decides whether the next session is any good. The plant, the streak, and the heatmap exist because habits that leave a visible trace are simply easier to keep.
Cycles You Define
Work and break lengths that fit your attention, not a default.
Blocking With Teeth
Strict mode stops the block from being lifted on impulse.
Recovery Built In
Eye-rest, movement, and water prompts arrive without being remembered.
Sound That Starts Itself
Soundscapes run with the cycle instead of costing you a playlist detour.
An Honest Record
Heatmaps and streaks show which days were actually deep.
