About the role
Tubeup is a desktop application because it has to be: it automates YouTube publishing without asking anyone to hand their credentials to a cloud service. That constraint drives every architectural decision in the product, and this role owns those decisions.
You will work on local-first architecture, native OS integration, auto-update, code signing and notarisation, and the long tail of platform-specific behaviour that separates desktop software people trust from desktop software people uninstall.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain cross-platform desktop applications in Electron and Tauri.
- Design local-first data flows — offline-capable storage, background sync, and a clear boundary for what may leave the device.
- Own the release pipeline: reproducible builds, code signing, Apple notarisation, and auto-update across three platforms.
- Keep the security surface tight: context isolation, IPC boundaries, dependency review, and secure credential storage in the OS keychain.
- Chase down platform-specific bugs on real macOS, Windows, and Linux machines rather than assuming parity.
- Profile startup time, memory, and binary size, and hold the line on all three.
What we're looking for
Everything in this list is a genuine requirement — if one of them is missing, the role will not work out, and we would rather say so here than at the fourth stage. We do not ask for a degree, and we do not count years of a framework that has not existed that long.
- 3+ years shipping desktop or systems software, including at least one application distributed to real users.
- Strong TypeScript, plus hands-on Electron or Tauri experience (Rust for Tauri is a plus, not a blocker).
- You have signed, notarised, and shipped an auto-updating build — and have the scar tissue to prove it.
- Solid grasp of the Electron security model, or the equivalent Tauri capability system.
- Comfortable debugging across all three desktop platforms.
- Clear written English for release notes, docs, and design write-ups.
- Able to work legally in Bangladesh and overlap with the team during core hours.
Nice to have
Genuinely optional. Missing all of these has never stopped us making an offer.
- Rust experience beyond the Tauri surface area.
- Familiarity with the YouTube Data API or other quota-constrained platform APIs.
- You have built an installer or packaging pipeline from scratch (MSI, DMG, AppImage, deb).
- Accessibility work on desktop UI.

Working arrangement
Remote — Bangladesh
Fully remote from anywhere in Bangladesh. Test hardware for macOS and Windows is provided.
40 hours a week, Sunday – Thursday, with core overlap 11:00 – 17:00 (UTC+6). Probation is 3 months on full salary and full benefits, with a written check-in at the halfway point.
Compensation
৳70,000 – ৳130,000 / month
