Degird × Hostinger: Official Hosting Partner + 20% Off
Degird is now an official Hostinger partner. Here's what it means for our customers and clients — plus 20% off eligible new Hostinger purchases.

Today I get to share something we've been quietly working toward for a while: Degird is now an official Hostinger partner.
If you've ever emailed us asking "where should I actually host this?" — and a surprising number of you have — this is the answer we can finally point at without hedging. It also comes with something practical: 20% off eligible new Hostinger purchases for anyone in the Degird community, through our partner link.
Below is the whole story — what the partnership is, why we picked Hostinger over the alternatives, exactly how to claim the discount, and the fine print we'd want someone to give us.
What this partnership actually is
Let's start by being precise, because "partnership" is one of the most over-used words on the internet.
This is a referral and recommendation partnership. Hostinger has not paid us to say nice things about them, and they don't get a say in what we publish. What the partnership gives us is a formal relationship with a hosting provider we already use — plus a partner link that passes a discount on to you and pays us a referral commission when someone signs up through it.
That last part matters, so we're saying it in the first section rather than burying it in a footer: if you buy hosting through our link, Degird earns a commission, and you pay less than you would have otherwise. Both things are true at the same time, and we come back to it in detail further down.
What the partnership is not: it isn't a white-label reseller deal, we aren't becoming a hosting company, and your account, your billing, and your data live with Hostinger — not with us. We're the people who recommended it and who can help you build on top of it.
Why Hostinger, and how we vet a partner at all
We turn down most partnership requests. The reason is simple and slightly selfish: our name goes on the recommendation, and we're the ones who hear about it when it goes badly. A bad hosting recommendation doesn't just cost someone a few dollars — it costs them a weekend, a migration, and a lot of goodwill.
So before we put the Degird name next to anyone, a partner has to clear four bars.
1. We have to already be using it
This is the non-negotiable one. We were running projects on Hostinger before there was any commercial relationship — client sites, internal tools, staging environments for products we were building. When you deploy to a host often enough, you stop reading the marketing page and start learning its actual character: how it behaves under load, what the control panel hides from you, what happens at 2am when something breaks.
We recommend it because we shipped on it first. That order matters.
2. The price has to be honest for people who are just starting
A large share of the people who read this blog and use our tools are not funded startups. They're freelancers, students, small agencies, WordPress publishers, and founders paying out of their own pocket for their first year. For that group, the gap between a few dollars a month and a few tens of dollars a month is the difference between launching and not launching.
Hostinger's positioning sits squarely in that "get online without a budget meeting" space, which is exactly where most of our audience is standing.
3. It has to be usable by someone who isn't an engineer
We build developer-grade software, but plenty of our customers are not developers. They want to install WordPress, connect a domain, get an SSL certificate, and go back to running their business. hPanel is genuinely approachable for that person — which is more than can be said for a bare VPS and a stack of documentation.
And when you do want the engineer-grade version, the path upward to a VPS exists rather than being a whole migration project.
4. Support has to answer
Every host promises 24/7 support. The real question is whether a ticket reaches a human who reads it. In our experience, this one does — and after years of running client work, that's the variable we've learned to weight the heaviest.
A hosting provider is infrastructure, not a lifestyle choice. The right one is the one that stays boring while you do the interesting work. That's the bar we measured against — not benchmark charts.
There's also a search-and-performance angle that's easy to miss. Hosting is the floor your site's speed is built on: server response time feeds directly into Core Web Vitals, and Google is explicit that page experience is part of how it evaluates pages. You can optimise images and defer scripts all day, but you cannot out-optimise a slow origin server. Picking a decent host is the cheapest SEO work most people will ever do.
Get 20% off your next Hostinger purchase
Here's the practical part.
Hostinger's referral programme lets eligible referred customers take up to 20% off at checkout on eligible new purchases. Through our partnership, that link is now open to everyone reading this.
Claim it here: hostinger.com — 20% off with referral code DEGIRD
How to use it, step by step:
- Open our partner link: hostinger.com?REFERRALCODE=DEGIRD
- Pick the plan you want — shared hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS, whatever fits.
- Check the cart before you pay. The referral discount should be visible at checkout. If you don't see it, clear your cookies and open the link again in a fresh tab before completing the purchase.
- Complete signup and start building.
Two things worth knowing up front: the discount applies to eligible new purchases, and Hostinger's own referral terms are the authority on what qualifies and how it interacts with any promotion already running. Read them on their site before you buy — we'd rather you go in with clear eyes than feel misled by a blog post.
If you're not sure which plan to pick
A rough guide, based on what we actually recommend to clients:
| What you're launching | Where to start |
|---|---|
| A first portfolio, blog, or brochure site | Shared hosting, entry tier |
| A WordPress site you intend to grow | WordPress hosting, mid tier |
| A store or a site with real traffic | A higher shared tier, or an entry VPS |
| A custom app or anything you deploy yourself | VPS |
| An agency running many client sites | VPS, or separate plans per client for clean billing |
When in doubt, start smaller than you think you need. Upgrading is a click. Over-buying for eighteen months is money you never get back — the same logic we apply to the build-vs-buy decision on software generally.
The honest fine print
Trust gets built in the paragraphs most companies skip, so here's ours in plain language.
- We earn a commission. If you purchase through our link, Hostinger pays Degird a referral fee. It costs you nothing extra — you're getting a discount, not a markup.
- The commission doesn't buy an opinion. We were recommending this host before it paid us anything, and if that ever stops being true we'll update this post rather than leave it standing. Our reputation is worth vastly more than any referral cheque.
- The offer terms are Hostinger's, not ours. Discount amount, eligibility, which plans qualify, and how it stacks with seasonal promotions are all defined by Hostinger and can change without us knowing. Always confirm the price in your cart before paying.
- We're not your host. Billing, uptime, backups, and support tickets go to Hostinger. If something breaks at the infrastructure level, they hold the keys.
- No pressure. If you're already happy with your current host, stay there. Migrating a working site to save a few dollars is usually a bad trade.
That's the whole disclosure. If any of it changes, this page changes with it — check the date at the top of the post.
Who this is actually for
Three groups get real value out of this.
Founders and freelancers launching their first thing. You need a domain, a host, and a way to be live by the weekend. This removes one decision and 20% of one bill.
WordPress publishers and small agencies. WordPress is a huge part of what we build — GuestDock, AuthDock, and SyncDock all exist because we run WordPress at scale for ourselves and for clients. Solid, affordable WordPress hosting is the foundation those tools sit on top of.
Degird clients. If we're building something for you through our agency, we now have a hosting recommendation we can make with a straight face, a discount to pass along, and a control panel we already know our way around. That means fewer surprises at handover.
How Degird tools pair with a Hostinger site
This is where the partnership stops being an announcement and starts being useful. A typical path looks like this:
1. Find the name. Naming is where most projects stall for a week. Our Domain Checker exists precisely because checking names one at a time in a registrar search box is miserable — we wrote about the bulk approach here. Get your shortlist down to one, then register it.
2. Get it hosted. That's the Hostinger step, with the discount above.
3. Lock the front door. A fresh WordPress install becomes a target within hours of going live. AuthDock handles login hardening without stacking six security plugins on top of each other — the reasoning is in our WordPress login security guide.
4. Publish without living in wp-admin. If you're producing content seriously, SyncDock lets you publish into WordPress from wherever you actually write, and SyncDock Client means managing several sites doesn't require juggling dashboards.
5. Open it to contributors safely. Accepting guest posts is great for growth and terrible for security if you do it with raw editor accounts. GuestDock is our answer, explained in this post on safe guest posting.
6. Make it readable by machines, not just people. Search engines aren't the only things crawling your site now. Adding an llms.txt file takes about an hour and makes your site legible to AI agents — a small edge that compounds.
None of those steps require the others. But together they're roughly the checklist we run for every site we put into the world, and it starts with hosting.
What comes next
A few things we're planning on the back of this:
- Setup guides. Step-by-step walkthroughs in our docs for deploying our WordPress plugins and tools onto a Hostinger environment, including the hPanel-specific quirks that cost us time so they don't cost you any.
- A hosting-and-launch checklist for clients — domain, DNS, SSL, email, backups, security, analytics — written to be followed by someone who isn't an engineer.
- More partnerships, held to the same bar. We'll keep saying no to most of them. When we say yes, it'll be for something we already run in production, and we'll disclose the relationship as plainly as we did here.
If there's something specific you'd like covered, tell us. These guides get written based on what people actually ask for.
Frequently asked questions
Is the 20% discount applied automatically?
It's tied to the referral link, so open checkout through our link and confirm the discounted price in your cart before paying. If it doesn't appear, clear cookies and try the link again in a clean tab.
Does it apply to renewals?
The referral offer is for eligible new purchases. Renewal pricing is set by Hostinger and is normally different from introductory pricing — factor that into your decision, especially on long first terms.
Does Degird make money if I use the link?
Yes, a referral commission — and you get a discount. We've said this three times in this post on purpose. Disclosure shouldn't be something you have to hunt for.
Is this the only host Degird recommends?
It's our default recommendation for most people, because most people are best served by affordable, well-supported, easy-to-manage hosting. Larger or more unusual workloads sometimes need something else, and if you're in that situation we'll say so rather than push a link.
Can Degird set up the hosting and the site for me?
Yes — that's what the agency side does. Get in touch through our contact page and we'll scope it.
I bought through the link and something's wrong. Who do I ask?
Hosting, billing, and uptime issues go to Hostinger's support — they hold the account. If it's about a Degird product running on that hosting, our support is the right door.
A note to our customers and clients
I want to close this the way I'd say it in person.
Degird is a small company that has grown mostly on trust. People try one of our products, it does what we said it would, and they come back for the next one or hire us to build something. We've never had a marketing budget that could substitute for that, which means every recommendation we make has to be one we'd defend to someone's face.
This partnership is that kind of recommendation. We use this host. We think it's the right starting point for most of the people who read this. And now, because of the partnership, you get to pay less for it than we did when we started.
Thank you for the trust — the emails, the bug reports, the projects you've handed us, the questions that turned into half the posts on this blog. It's the entire reason there's a company here to announce anything.
